National Junior Basketball is a nonprofit organization that was founded by Dennis Murphy, Jr. in 1984. Murphy was previously a coach at Garden Grove High School when he had vision of a youth basketball league based on sportsmanship and player development.
NJB has blossomed into a national youth league with over 25,000 participants in 6 states. The program offers three divisions for boys and girls in first through 12th grade. Clinic division is for 1st and 2nd graders, stressing fundamental skills and personal growth. The High School Program is for 9th through 12th grade players who did not make their high school team.
NJB offers the All-Net Program for the advance players grades 6th - 8th through their chapters. This division prepares the athlete for high school competition. |

Kids In Sports (KIS) provides adult-supervised, instructional sports programs for thousands of low-income youth, ages 5-17, in some of Los Angeles poorest neighborhoods. KIS works with parents, teachers and neighborhood leaders to create KIS sports clubs at existing facilities at public parks, schools and housing developments throughout Los Angeles County. More than 150 parents volunteer on local sports club advisory boards, which manage the clubs, plan and implement baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball and other programs throughout the year. More than 600 parents and school volunteers serve as coaches, mentors and boosters, spending the critical after-school, weekend and summer hours providing learning and leadership to neighborhood youth. |
